Autonomous city of Buenos Aires, Argentina. 120 SM/1,200 SF. 1998
Description
In this 8.66 m x 20m small “chorizo” house renovation, a second floor mezzanine, a catwalk and a wood deck terrace were added within the existing envelope. All the spaces get light from a lateral courtyard with a fountain. The details are contemporary but blend in with the texture of the original house.
A Chorizo house is the popular name of a typical Argentine house derived from the early Spaniards planning norms, typical of the 1900’s that include a half-courtyard on a standard 8.66 m wide urban lot.
