La Carolina, San Luis Province, Argentina. 70 to 110 SM/ 700 to 1,100 SF. 2013
Description
These houses for a development in San Luis Sierras, are designed to open towards north orientation, maximizing sunlight and passive energy, with overhangs filtering sun in summer and winter, variable wall thicknesses to generate thermal mass, and cross ventilations.
Architectural concepts are simple but strong. Walls, roofs and patios are expressed as independent elements with distinct textures and colors. Different materials and textures are combined to create feelings of contrast and warmth. Exposed roof structures, interior and exterior clear and dark stucco walls, stone walls and wood decks. Sloped roofs break up to adapt and mimic the houses with the landscape.
